Meat Loaf...why not Goat Loaf?!

Idea (and photo) credits to Hilary at Oak Grove Farm!

Joining the goat business has led us into a new area of meat. Hilary and her husband Joe have been in the goat business for years longer than we have and have shared so much knowledge with us! Most recently they shared a couple pounds of ground goat meat. We eat a lot of variety here starting with beef. Pretty much anything can be substituted and I am one who will forget to label meat in the freezer because "I'll remember what's what." HAHAHAHA

Joe said, "goats good, a little sweeter than beef." Away I went with this package and thought...okay well stick it in the fridge. We had burritos for supper with all the kids the next night so I used the goat. None of them even noticed anything different! It cooked up lean just like the beef and then I mixed it with refried beans and rice. Two pans of burritos gone without a minute! Kids couldn't believe it when we finished and I told them what they'd eaten.

We will be smoking some and making tacos down the road, along with roasts and probably goat and noodles! LOL! I'm told that it all tastes the same.

Hilary shared her recipe for the goat loaf - they're gluten free, but rolled oats could easily be swapped for crushed crackers or bread crumbs. [She makes BOMB goat milk soaps!]

Check out their Facebook page for more info on what they're up to!

We have goats for sale and can look into processing, or someone could use our farm to cut up their own if desired. Whole or halves would be available in April.
